Year by year, Laboratorios Lopez recognizes the most outstanding medical students of the year, giving them the award named “Mrs. Thelma Davidson de Lopez”, which is not only an economic incentive, but an important encouragement to give continuity to academic and social excellence.

Rules for participating in the Medical Student Award "Medical Student of the Year Mrs. Thelma Lopez Davidson."
Since 2003, Laboratorios Lopez, year by year delivered the prize "Medical Student of the Year “Mrs. Thelma Davidson de lopez" as a fair recognition to student’s medical careers of the different Universities of El Salvador.
This award has been given since 2003 to each University that has a School of Medicine in El Salvador. The award is granted once a year in each university during the graduation ceremony.
The prize consists in an inscribed little statuette, and an economic incentive.

The winner will be selected by each university taking into consideration, each and every one of the following requirements:
-Best GPA of the Promotion.
-Best disciplinary record.
-Outstanding work of social participation.
-Outstanding research aptitude.
-Having completed the entire career in the same university.
-Graduating from the normal time set by the original pensum
-Graduate without submitting any replacement exam.
-Being Salvadoran
Dr. Gustavo Adolfo López Award
Dr. Gustavo Adolfo the Award was instituted as a just recognition of outstanding professionals in the health area, the topics include the following: 1. scientific research, 2. Guild contribution, 3. Professional Ethics, 4. A flawless Reputation, 5. Various Social and Humanitarian aspects. The AD-HOC medical committee is responsible for selecting qualified professionals. In this year, 2008, Dr. Enrique Hernández Pérez was selected, due to merits awarded for outstanding scientific work and his extensive resume reflected in his tireless work for health.

Rules for participating in the Award Dr. Gustavo Adolfo Lopez (Doctor of the Year)
In order to stimulate the commitment and dedication of the medical professional who has distinguished himself by his actions for the health of the Salvadorans, since 1996, Laboratorios López presented the award to Dr. Gustavo Adolfo Lopez.

Regulation of election. Physician of the Year Dr. Gustavo Adolfo Lopez, is elected by the Medical Commission adhoc, Adolfo Lopez Award.
This honorific mention receives nominations every year sent by each Medical Association affiliated to the Medical College of El Salvador, and for each medicine faculty of the legally authorized universities recognized by the state of El Salvador.
Note:
It is up to the Board of each Medical Association and medical schools the appropriate mechanisms or procedures that they deem appropriate to elect their candidates. The adhoc committee examines the various proposals and then assesses whether candidates meet the requirements, choosing the winner by voting.
Bases for granting the medical distinction of the Year "Dr. Gustavo Adolfo Lopez.”. The candidate for “Doctor of the year” must meet the following requirements.
Must be a Salvadoran citizen, medical graduate being legally registered in the Board of Vigilance of the medical profession and incorporated into one of the Universities of El Salvador, legally authorized by the state.
Be recognized as an honorable, of high moral and professional ethics, high work spirit, to exercise his function either by direct action of his professional attention to the health care of Salvadorans or through scientific research; as well as any other proven merit in his career. At assessment test is required in order to prove its social work, with relevant humanitarian and/or scientific support of patients with the medical profession, and the general population. Any other merit not covered by these rules will be subject to verification by the adhoc commission for the concerned assesment.
